How come, although Samus has the varia suit she is shown using the plasma beam instead of the ice beam and the super missiles instead of the ice missiles? When she was jumping of the bridge she isn’t in either a space jump or screw attack?

If we look back at the manga while chozo were still described as one civilization, there were two key points:

- they were warlike, but now are peaceful and have a mental block

- aging made them unable to reproduce by normal means and use their wings to fly

Raven Beak flies. The wings might just be artificial but there is a possibility that he and by possible extension all Mawkin were just the youngest chozo out there, too young to overcome warlike habits yet.
