Масса Бругов (англ. Brug Mass) - сборище Бругов вокруг Императорского Бруга, отдаленно напоминающее гуманоидное тело и имеющее в верхней части большой глаз. Это первый босс игры Metroid: Other M, сражение с ним происходит в Отсеке Управления Кораблем-бутылкой.

Сражение

Сразу по прибытии в Отсек Управления Самус Аран и 7 Взвод обнаруживают труп сотрудника лаборатории, чей халат покрыт пятнами зеленого цвета, по фактуре похожими на кровь. Пока пехотинцы толпятся вокруг трупа, из под него выползает Бруг, что тут же приводит Лайла Смитсониана в состоянии паники. Он пинает насекомое и начинает палить в него из своего оружия, пока, наконец, его не останавливает Джеймс Пирс. Самус заговаривает с Адамом Малковичем о своем возможном содействии в выполнении боевых задач Взвода, и в этот момент сотни Бругов выползают из-за стен, спускаются с потолка, собираются вокруг Императорского Бруга и объединяются в Массу Бругов.

The Brug Mass uses its two long tentacles to attack and strike down Samus. If Samus goes too close to the Mass, her foot will get caught in it and the Mass will throw her up and use its tentacle to strike her down, dealing heavy damage.

Initially, the Marines and Samus are unable to damage the Brug Mass, and only come to realize that if Samus uses Sense Move in first person perspective. Adam then authorizes the use of both the Marines' Freeze Guns and Samus' Missiles. Samus must fire a Charge Beam shot or a Missile or even jumping on the mass to perform an Overblast at the Emperor Brug, allowing the Marines to freeze the tentacles of the beast. Once a tentacle is frozen, Samus can fire a Missile at it to destroy it. With one tentacle, it attacks by with its repetitive strikes, drags its arm across the floor, and striking down the floor while spurting the tentacle through the floor at a long distance. After both tentacles have been destroyed, the base of the creature becomes vulnerable to attack and can be destroyed in the same fashion as the tentacles. At this point, the creature will begin slamming its whole body into the ground in an attempt to injure Samus or one of the Marines. It can also spin its body very quickly and jump. After the base has been destroyed, the Emperor Brug falls out of the Mass and Samus must kill the eyeball to finish off the beast. Once the Emperor Brug is killed, the remaining Brugs in the mass scurry away.

If Samus stalls to dislodge the frozen part of the Mass, it will unfreeze and the Emperor Brug must be shot again. If she takes too long to kill the Emperor Brug, it will reattach itself to the Mass and the Mass' base must be broken off again. Also, the Emperor Brug, after being dislodged again, will have its health completely restored.

• During the battle, the Brug Mass will target Samus and rarely attack the Marines. In addition, it can't harm the Marines even if the Mass actually hits them.
• The concept of the Brug Mass' eye being a larger, controlling insect is identical to that of the Armogohma from The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess.
• For some reason, the Marines rarely fire their guns; they will only attack rapidly once they have the opportunity to freeze it.
• Until Adam authorizes the use of the Freeze Guns and the Missiles, Samus is unable to damage the Emperor Brug with the Charge Beam as well as jumping on the mass to perform Overblast.
• The Emperor Brug and Brugs that make up the boss share characteristics with the Oculus and the unofficially named Bomb Parasites, respectively.
• The Brug Mass was referred to as "Unidentified Life Form 27" (its previous designation here at Wikitroid) in UK's Official Nintendo Magazine: "An early encounter with a giant one-eyed monster (Unidentified Life Form 27)". [1]
• This boss bears several similarities to the Gohmas of the Legend of Zelda games, another series created by Nintendo. The Queen Gohma in Ocarina of Time is particularly similar to the Brug Mass. For instance, both bosses start out by watching the protagonist as a single eye on the ceiling. Also, when each boss's main body is destroyed, their eye is revealed to be the "true" boss that must be destroyed.
• Adam could also have authorized the use of Samus' Ice Beam, yet he let the troopers use their Freeze Guns. This may be because the other soldiers didn't have Missiles, so Samus would have needed to do all the work. Or perhaps the developers didn't want Samus receiving stronger equipments too early.
  • However, Anthony Higgs possesses the Plasma Gun, which is much stronger than an average missile, although its long charging time may have prevented its use.
• The Brugs may have been non-violent until provoked into self-defense by Lyle's killing of one Brug.
• If Samus waits long enough to attack the Brug Mass after one arm is dislodged, one of the Marines, presumably Lyle, will attempt an Overblast, but the Mass will simply shake off the Marine. The same Marine will keep trying the exact same method over the course of the phase but will always fall short.
• The Brug Mass possesses four large blue dots surrounding the Emperor Brug, which cannot be formed out of individual Brugs and are not part of the Emperor's own body. Their purpose and origin is unknown.
