During the Adventure Mode of Super Smash Bros. Melee, the player goes through several Nintendo worlds with their chosen character. One of these is Brinstar, on Planet Zebes. This involves fighting Samus Aran, and then Countdown escape from the planet through a [[Metroid (series)|Metroid series styled shaft. If the player fails to escape in time, they lose one stock. A cutscene showns the demise of the planet afterward, and pans over to the next area, Pop Star.
