Aberax is a mutated Space Pirate which appears as a boss in Metroid Prime 4: Beyond.

Description[]

Aberax is encountered in the Hangar of the UTO Research Center, where it confronts Samus as she tries to defend the artifact from a group of Space Pirates. An unknown species of Metroid fuses with it, rapidly mutating it into a far more monstrous form.

Alien Morphology: Aberax
Large officer in the Space Pirate army. Metroid fusion has resulted in a loss of free will and the formation of beam-projection lenses on its chest.
Metabolic-energy surges become uncontrollable when all lenses have been destroyed. This causes recurring energy releases directly from its core via the orifice in its abdomen until the lenses regenerate.

Trivia[]

The concept of Space Pirates being combined with Metroids is seemingly inspired by Experiment 7526 briefly seen in Metroid Prime.
