Adventure Mode is the single-player mode of Metroid Prime Hunters. It follows the story of Samus Aran and six other Bounty Hunters exploring the Alimbic Cluster trying to obtain the "Ultimate Power". Samus Aran is the only playable character in this mode for story and gameplay reasons (unlike in Multiplayer Mode, where any Hunter can be played), though she acquires the Affinity Weapons of all six other Hunters as the story progresses.
This mode has two different endings. Unusually for a Metroid game, they are unaffected by clear time, and are rather based on whether or not Samus defeats Gorea's final form. The latter is considered canon, as the former presumably ends with Samus (and all other Hunters) dying in the exploding Oubliette.
Gameplay[]
Adventure Mode sees Samus exploring four main locations in the Alimbic Cluster: the Celestial Archives, a derelict space station previously dedicated to trade and the preservation of knowledge; Alinos, one of the Alimbic home worlds that is covered in ruins and magma from an unstable core; the Vesper Defense Outpost, a militarized station dedicated to weapons development; and Arcterra, a frozen world home to numerous Alimbic shrines and structures. Samus will have to visit each location at least twice in order to obtain the eight Octoliths needed to activate the Alimbic Cannon, which will reveal the location of the Oubliette.
Samus will have to first visit the Celestial Archives and retrieve its Octolith before she can visit Alinos. After obtaining her second Octolith there, the remaining two locations are unlocked. The first time Samus visits a location she will face other Hunters in scripted encounters that serve to introduce the game's main antagonists. Kanden is first fought on the Celestial Archives, Spire and Weavel appear on Alinos, Sylux first appears on the VDO, and both Noxus and Trace are fought on Arcterra. Each location has two Octoliths, one which can be retrieved on an initial visit and one that requires a return trip after obtaining the appropriate Affinity Weapon from somewhere else.
The VDO and Arcterra can be visited in any order, and each visit will yield a weapon in addition to the Octolith: the Battlehammer from the VDO and the Judicator from Arcterra. The Battlehammer allows for further exploration of the Celestial Archives, yielding the Volt Driver, the Shock Coil, and an Octolith. The Judicator in turn opens up new locations on Alinos, where Samus can claim the Magmaul and another Octolith. The Magmaul then grants access deeper into Arcterra where the Imperialist can be retrieved; this finally grants access to the final area on the VDO.
Upon returning to a location after obtaining its first Octolith, Samus may be randomly confronted by Guardians and other Hunters when visiting rooms she has previously cleared. The Tetra Galaxy Scan Screen shows which hunters are present at a given planet or station. Should Samus be defeated by a Hunter at any point, she will lose an Octolith and be forced to track down the Hunter to retrieve it.
Once Samus retrieves all eight Octoliths, a trip to Alinos will reveal the Oubliette, where Samus must fight Gorea.
