Dive Spikes break through the roof of the Hangar, delivering Space Pirates who are quickly accompanied by Aberax. As Aberax turns to face Samus, a squad of Federation Troopers attempts to defend the Artifact from Space Pirate fire. Samus looks up in surprise as a Metroid descends through the room's destroyed ceiling and begins to fuse with Aberax, which glows and unleashes a wave of energy as its body is transformed. Samus aims her Arm Cannon at the mutated Pirate, and the cutscene transitions to gameplay. As Samus begins to shoot at Aberax's weak points, the trailer fades to black.
