The Ardis system (アーティス 星関連 の, Ātisu-boshi kanren no) is the location of a series of explosions by a "craftsman" that is ultimately captured by Samus Aran. She states that the mission was a request from an unspecified old friend, and would not have bothered with it otherwise. The location is only mentioned in the first page of the Metroid Manga.

"Craftsmen" is also the name of an alien race in the Metroid EX: Samus and Joey manga, but any connection between them and the perpetrator of the Ardis explosions is dubious at best given the different authors of both stories.
