The artifact is a mysterious object of great importance to the Galactic Federation.
History[]
Originally discovered in the Desolan System by the Federation, the artifact was brought to the UTO Research Center for analysis, where a Space Pirate raid led by Sylux prompted the Federation to enlist Samus's aid in defending the mysterious device. As Galactic Federation Troopers prepared to load the artifact onto a transport in the Hangar, Sylux arrived and confronted Samus for control of the artifact. During their battle, a stray shot from Sylux struck the artifact, causing it to rise into the air and unleash a wave of energy that engulfed the facility.
