This theme plays exclusively in the Biological Experiment Floor located in the Biosphere. Specifically, it plays in the upper part of the room, containing a large structure that Samus Aran must ascend to reach the Kihunter Nest within. The song stops playing once Samus falls into the Kihunter Nest.
This theme is stylistically evocative of other Metroid songs such as Lower Brinstar and Maridia Rocky Underwater Area. It is a minimalistic piece, making use out of layering several short and simple musical phrases in different combinations with one another. The result generates an appropriately lonely atmosphere, suspenseful tone, and foreboding mood as the game builds up to the boss fight against the King Kihunter.
