The Blastcap is a form of flora found on Tallon IV. They can be found in the Tallon Overworld and in the Chozo Ruins. They look like large, algae-green mushrooms and live in groups. The spores of the Blastcap do not require an atmosphere in order to survive and have propagated throughout the galaxy by means of traveling on the intragalactic solar winds. If they are approached, they make a rustling sound and shake violently. When Samus Aran makes contact with one, it will explode and secretes a corrosive gas that causes damage. A few shots from the Power Beam or walking into them will destroy them. They are also encountered in Metroid Prime Hunters on both Alinos and Arcterra. The type that appears on Arcterra seems to be a white arctic species, though it seems to just be scenery and is not able to be scaned.
