We weren't able to increase the amount of memory we had for the game and we were not allowed to make major changes to the core engine - but we had freedom in terms of game structure. In a way, we were stuck; stuck between high walls and we had to think of a way out. This is the feeling we also put in the game. Maybe, you could blast a little hole in the wall? This might lead you to another room or corridor. This is how the basic structure of the game came about.

Samus Returns Bomb Block

Metroid: Samus Returns

Bomb Blocks are a type of destructible Block that is destroyed by Morph Ball Bombs, the Paralyzer, and Power Bombs. They can also be broken by the Screw Attack and Speed Booster in some cases. They appear in Metroid Fusion, Super Metroid, and Metroid: Zero Mission, though in Zero Mission, a shot from the Power Beam will reveal them, while the Wave Beam can reveal clusters of such blocks. They are somewhat replaced in the Prime series by Sandstone and Talloric Alloy, though since the material of these Bomb Blocks is not revealed, it is possible that they are made of one of these materials.
