Boss Mid Chozowarrior-X[1] is a boss theme in Metroid Dread. It was composed by Soshi Abe, Sayako Doi, or both.
Description[]
As the name might imply, this theme plays when Samus Aran battles any of the five X Parasite mimics of Chozo Soldiers. This includes the Elite Chozo Soldier in Hanubia. Like the battles themselves, it is divided into two phases.
Boss Mid Chozowarrior-X 001 plays during the first phase of each battle. It prominently features fast-paced strings and bass, which together make up the main melody. Female vocals and high-pitched synths are used at various points in the track. A percussive instrument similar to a marimba replaces the strings shortly before the theme loops. Certain instruments in this phase of the theme resemble those used for Sanctuary 001, tying together different areas and enemies associated with the Chozo race.
Boss Mid Chozowarrior-X 002 is used for the second phase, after the X Parasite abandons its façade as a Chozo and mutates into a more animalistic creature. The melody remains the same for this phase, but the instrumentation becomes almost entirely electronic. In particular, the strings and bassline are replaced with sounds akin to those associated with Phazon in the Metroid Prime series, and the vocals are wholly replaced with an electronic guitar.
