Boss Scorpius[1] is a music theme from Metroid Dread. It was composed by Soshi Abe and/or Sayako Doi.
Description[]
Boss Scorpius plays in Artaria during the boss fight against Corpius. The theme was used during gameplay segments in the Announcement and Overview Trailers, and at the end of the Development History presentation. It also plays throughout the On October 8 and Beware advertisements.
The main version of Boss Scorpius is Boss Scorpius 001. The melody consists largely of high synths and tense strings, accompanied by heavy percussion, brass crescendos, and ambient sounds. The song takes a quieter, more sinister tone about 42 seconds into it. At various points throughout the track, it adopts a faster-paced and more intense variation of the area's main melody performed on strings. Whenever Corpius uses the Phantom Cloak, it switches to Boss Scorpius 002, in which the more orchestral instruments in the theme are removed and replaced with a much heavier emphasis on electric synths in the melody and harmonies.

Trivia[]
- Prior to the Metroid Dread Demo February 9, 2022 update, Boss Scorpius would not play if Corpius was fought in the demo via Sequence Breaking.
