The Cargo Hub is a rather large room on Norion, appearing within Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. This arc-like hall connects to multiple rooms, including the elevator to the Control Tower.

Samus first enters this room during the Pirate invasion. It has several dead Galactic Federation Marines present, as well as evident signs of skirmishes between opposing forces. A small hatch can be opened by a Hand Scanner, which leads into a ventilation maze underneath the floor. Some doors are sealed by high-level locks and can be unlocked under various circumstances.

After the invasion, some parts of this room are sealed due to repairs. One broken Circuit board prevents access to a portion of the Norion base overspent with Phazon.

Dialogue[]

Ghor dialogue[]

This one has finished bothering us. Go on ahead. I will stay here and protect the area.

Proceed quickly to Generator C and reactivate the defense systems before we're all vaporized!

Go on, get out of here!

Federation Marine dialogue[]

At the door to Generator B:

Good day, Samus. You may want to rethink heading into this section of the facility.

The area beyond this door is overrun with spent Phazon from the initial Pirate invasion.

The locking mechanism was damaged and is currently inoperable. It is scheduled for repairs, but considering what's on the other side--

I'm not surprised the welding engineers haven't gotten around to fixing it yet.

(if spoken to again) The welding engineers haven't gotten around to fixing this door yet.

(circuit board fixed) The area beyond this door is overrun with spent Phazon from the initial Pirate invasion.

(after Metroid Hatcher killed) Good day, Samus.

At the door to the Control Tower:

This area is off-limits due to repairs.

Items[]

Missile Expansion
found in ventilation system after defeating all the enemies in the area. A "Jolly Roger" Drone is present during the invasion, where it will attempt to weaken or eliminate Samus as she reaches for the expansion. Should Samus visit the room to obtain the Expansion after the invasion is over, the drone will not be present, removing one obstacle in her way.

Development notes[]

Internal files list this room's name as 02_gfplanet_gunhub. The name GUNHUB can be seen on certain wall Maps within Norion leading to this room, examples being within each of the three Cargo Dock rooms.

The keyword gfplanet indicates Norion, and the prefix 02 indicates that this is the second of 5 main rooms on Norion.

In the 2006 prototype of Corruption, the Cargo Hub is seen quite differently from the final build:

  • The enemy composition in this room is radically different. Instead of facing Aeromines, Samus encounters Space Pirates.
  • The room contains an extra top layer of elevation to which the above Space Pirates may use as vantage points in this room. Using a crate, it is possible to Space Jump up towards the higher elevation.

The sequence where Ghor battles and kills a Berserker Knight was animated by Sonny Santa Maria. In early footage of Corruption, Samus would witness this fight in gameplay instead of in a cutscene.[1]

Trivia[]

  • After getting the Missile Expansion and leaving the ventilation shafts, Samus can become stuck in the opposite wall if she un-morphs at the correct time. Samus will be unable to move from the position and will be dealt continuous damage.
  • The Tower Elevator will be blocked off by a Federation Marine if Samus were to revisit Norion, saying it is "blocked off due to repairs," similar to what the Marine in the path leading to Generator C says.
    • Using Secret Worlds, Samus can reaccess the Tower Elevator, which will strangely repeat the entire movie sequence and place Samus back in MedLab Delta on the G.F.S. Olympus once more, albeit without the reawakening cutscene. Any suit or beam upgrades obtained before triggering the Control Tower cutscene will be shown during the cutscenes.
