Central Unit[1] is a boss theme in Metroid Dread. It was composed by Soshi Abe, Sayako Doi, or both.
Description[]
As the name implies, this theme plays when Samus Aran battles any of the five Central Units which are not dead by the time she finds them. Like the battles themselves, it is divided into two phases.
Central Unit Phase 01 plays during the first phase of the battle, where the Central Unit is protected by armor plating. It consists of electronic synths that are played in a chaotic manner, sounding much like an alarm. The primary melody consists merely of three falling notes which repeat throughout the track. Central Unit Phase 02 plays when the Unit's armor has been broken off, exposing its vulnerable brain. It is faster and lower in pitch than the first phase, with even less discernible melody. In both phases, this theme is similar in style to Zebetite, which likewise contains little melody and is associated with the similar AI Mother Brain.
