The first Central Unit Door, closed.
A Central Unit Door is a special type of door on ZDR. As the name implies, they guard Central Units, locking inside anyone who steps into the units' chambers. They appear as square blast doors with a circular light resembling the face of an E.M.M.I.
After Samus destroys the Central Unit of an E.M.M.I. Zone and acquires the Omega Cannon from it, she becomes able to open these doors. To do so, she must enter Aim Mode and target the red circle on the door. When it is in her line of fire, it will light up green. Firing a charged Omega Blaster shot at the door will open it; part of the preceding room can be seen through the door. Once Samus leaves the room, the door locks behind her (indicated by two red lights on either side) and the E.M.M.I. Zone locks down, until she destroys the E.M.M.I. occupying it. Once she has, the Zone and Central Unit Door unlocks.
Starting with the second, all Central Unit Doors are outfitted with a face shield, again like the E.M.M.I., which must be melted using the Omega Stream. Afterwards, it can be opened as normal. The first Central Unit Door, found outside the E.M.M.I. Zone in Artaria, does not have this shield. The Hanubia E.M.M.I. Zone does not have a Central Unit Door, because that area's Central Unit is not directly battled and its room is instead entered through passages in the ceiling and wall.
