This article's name is an unofficial translation from official Japanese media.

Chief Rodney Aran was the father of Samus Aran, and the husband of Virginia Aran. During the attack of Ridley and his Space Pirates at K-2L, he shoots the Afloraltite with an automatic weapon, igniting it and causing a massive explosion, wiping out everything on the colony except the Chozo, Samus and Ridley. His story was told in the Metroid Manga.

An unnamed man presumed to be Samus's father also appears in Nintendo Power's Super Metroid comic, as part of a flashback story pertaining to Samus's origins, which is told by an elderly Old Bird to Armstrong Houston.
