Chozo Ruins Depths,[1] also known as Ancient Chozo Ruins (チョウゾ古代遺跡 )[2] or Timeworn Chozo Remnants,[3] is a music theme in Metroid Prime.
Description[]
Chozo Ruins Depths is slow and brooding, compared to the more upbeat, main theme of the area, although it introduces the recurring melody that would later be heard in Chozo Ruins and Magmoor Caverns Entrance.
An alternate shorter version of the Chozo Ruins Depths theme is heard in the Ruins when first entering the Ruins Entrance; this version is not included on the Metroid Prime & Fusion Original Soundtracks, and is replaced with the main Chozo Ruins theme when the Plated Beetle has been defeated. The main version of Chozo Ruins Depths begins to play in Crossway Access West, leading up to the Hall of the Elders and the Antechamber where the Ice Beam is kept.
In chapter 2 of the Metroid e-Manga, a variation of Chozo Ruins Depths can be heard while Old Bird and Gray Voice are arguing after first bringing Samus Aran to Zebes. It is heard again when Old Bird speaks to an older Samus about the decline of the Chozo species and encourages her independence.
Chozo Ruins Depths can be unlocked in the Soundtrack Gallery of Metroid Prime Remastered, where it receives its first official English name, after obtaining the Ice Beam. Here, it is accompanied by an image of the Reflecting Pool.
The Ruins Entrance version can be heard here, while the main theme can be heard here. The e-Manga version can be heard here.
