Unit 217 has been infected with the corruption virus and is currently offline. I have uploaded a program to your suit that will purge any traces of corruption in the AU and restore its functionality.

Aurora Unit 242 transmission

AU 217

Aurora Unit 217 infected with the Virus.

The corruption virus is a computer virus in Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. It is said to have been contracted by Aurora Unit 313, the Aurora Unit stolen from the G.F.S. Valhalla by Dark Samus, and spread to the other AUs through 313. Fortunately, the Galactic Federation scientists were able to develop a vaccine to cure the virus. They gave this vaccine to Aurora Unit 242, the AU of the G.F.S. Olympus, and it worked. Soon, the virus was purged from all Aurora Units save for a few in obscure locations such as Aurora Unit 217, which was stationed on Elysia.

On the Olympus, Admiral Dane was preparing to send the Bounty Hunters Samus Aran, Rundas, Ghor, and Gandrayda to such locations to completely eradicate the virus, but his briefing was halted when Space Pirates attacked the flagship. Samus was later able to cure Unit 217, who then helped her on her mission. It is assumed that the virus was purged from the remaining Aurora Units with the death of Phaaze, which ended the existence of all Phazon, including the virus.

The virus is thought to be digital, and not an actual micro-organism. This is because the vaccine is digitally transferred to 217, rather than physically used. It is also believed the virus allowed Aurora Unit 217 to be corrupted by the Leviathan, or that the program itself creates Phazon.

The name "corruption virus" was used by 242 when she briefed Samus on her mission to Elysia.

GFDF AC-004

A month ago, problems occurred with the Aurora network. Preliminary studies indicated a Phazon presence in the biosystems of different Auroras. The investigations led to the Space Pirates who seem to have captured an Aurora Unit. The loading of this unit with Phazon led to the corruption of the entire Aurora network. In order to prevent another Phazon corruption, the entire Aurora network was shut down. Unfortunately, there has already been considerable damage. We need to administer an antidote to corrupted Aurora units immediately.
