Crateria Surface[1] is a theme from Super Metroid.
Description[]
Crateria Surface is a triumphant-sounding march, full of hope and strength that will motivate the player to victory. It begins playing in the open areas of Crateria after Kraid is defeated and the storm on the surface clears up. It is also heard after the baby's death during the climax of the game, when Samus Aran receives the Hyper Beam from it and finishes off Mother Brain.
The theme is included on the Super Metroid: Sound in Action soundtrack, which also features an arranged version of the theme. Both of these are titled Theme of Samus Aran, Space Warrior (宇宙戦士 サムス アランのテーマ ). However, this title would later be given to the credits theme of Super Metroid, which would become more recognized as Samus Aran's official leitmotif.
The original theme is also included on Play it Loud! Original Soundtrack Volume 1, a compilation album of SNES music offered by Nintendo Power in 1996, and the Samus Archives Sound Selection, which is packaged with the Special and Legacy Editions of Metroid: Samus Returns.
In 2013, the theme was arranged by the WDR Radio Orchestra as part of Into Red, Into Dark.
The original theme can be heard here, and the arrangement from Sound in Action here.
