David Cassady is a former freelance video game strategy guide author. Cassady wrote many strategy guide books published by Prima Games and BradyGames, including Metroid Prime and Metroid Fusion: Prima's Official Strategy Guide.
Cassady worked at a software store in Indianapolis, Indiana when he was hired by BradyGames to write for their limited (at the time) lineup of strategy guides, at a time when guides were transitioning "from tiny booklets into full-size, full-color, magazine-like books". His first guide was for the Sega Genesis version of Virtua Racing, which he wrote in the span of a week. While he did not enjoy the experience, it led to him writing many more enjoyable guides, including his favorite, Final Fantasy VII.
He retired from writing in 2007, with his final guide being for the 2007 Conan the Barbarian video game. Cassady then joined the insurance company Allied Solutions, working there in an administrative capacity until 2014. He is currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in computer and information technology at Purdue University, set to graduate in 2019.
