Deca-triticale was a nutrient used by Space Pirates in the Phazon Mines operation, specifically, in the creation of Elite Nutrient Mix prepared for the Elite Pirates. It would later be replaced with the less expensive and more plentiful fungal matter from Saturnines, when infused with Phazon.
Elite Control[]
"Phazon-infused fungal harvesting continues. Replacement of deca-triticale with Phazon-infused fungal matter in Elite Ration Mix has been authorized."
Trivia[]
- This substance is likely a reference to the fictional grain "quadro-triticale", a central plot element of the iconic Star Trek episode "The Trouble with Tribbles". Later Star Trek media has also referenced the crop, along with a "quinto-triticale" that is also eaten by Tribbles.
- In the real world, triticale is a grain hybrid of wheat and rye. Why the Space Pirates would be using a human food in their experiments is unknown.
