GF Naval Base Demeter is a Federation Fleet base in which Aurora Unit 217 was originally stationed, before being transferred to SkyTown, Elysia. It was mentioned in Metroid Prime 3: Corruption in 217's Logbook entry. The location, inhabitants or other information about this base is unknown. Due to the name, however, it may be that the base is similar to an actual modern-day naval base for boat-type ships, serving as a deployment for inactive or restocking naval ships.

- "Demeter" or "Earth-Mother" from the Doric Dā form of Greek De "Earth" and Meter "Mother" Or possibly "distribution-mother" from the noun of the Indo-European mother-earth *dheghom *mater, also called simply Δηώ), in Greek mythology, is the Goddess of grain and fertility, the pure, Nourisher of the youth and the green earth, the health-giving cycle of life and death, and preserver of marriage and the sacred law. In the Homeric Hymn to Demeter, dated to about the 7th century B.C.E. She is invoked as the "bringer of seasons", a subtle sign that she was worshipped long before she was made one of the Olympians. She and her daughter Persephone were the central figures of the Eleusinian Mysteries that also predated the Olympian pantheon.
- Interestingly, the goddess Ceres was often seen as the Roman equivalent of Demeter. Another location in the Metroid series, called Ceres Space Colony was named after her. Naval Base Demeter and Ceres Space Station may have some relation for this reason.
- However, this may only be coincidence as Ceres Space Colony seems to be based upon the real-life dwarf planet Ceres.
