Double Damage is a power-up found within the Multiplayer modes of Metroid Prime 2: Echoes, Metroid Prime Hunters, and the Survivor mode in Metroid Prime Hunters: First Hunt. Within all of its appearances and like its namesake, the Double Damage doubles the amount of damage dealt by Samus's attacks when obtained. The power-up lasts for a limited amount of time before disappearing, requiring a player to make the most out of their shots.
Metroid Prime 2: Echoes[]
Making its first appearance within the multiplayer mode of Echoes, the item known as Massive Damage appears as a special power-up obtained from a Randomizer (Exclusively in the stage Spider Complex, a ruby red Samus icon can be found on the side of the large central Magnetic Sphere. This is the item form of the Massive Damage and carries identical properties as the one found within a Randomizer). When a player obtains the power-up, that player will gain a bright pulsating red aura around their body, notifying its amplified damage boosting effect is active. This aura lasts for a limited time and will rapidly blink faster when about to expire. A message on the player's screen will notify when it is both obtained and lost.
Because of how Echoes is overall structured, it is possible to hack the Massive Damage power-up's properties onto Samus within the singleplayer mode. Doing so will give Samus a permanent bright red aura around her body. This aura will not be shown in cutscenes. While active, all of Samus's weapons deal extra damage to enemies, making quick use of any foe within seconds. On Hard Mode, the Arm Cannon's strength is still reduced by half before applying the Massive Damage's increased Arm Cannon strength.
Curiously, the item's internal files name it Quad Damage. The Massive Damage icon is actually the Varia Suit item from Metroid Prime, only tinted red by altering its lighting properties. This effect is similar to the red tint gained by players upon collecting the power-up.
Metroid Prime Hunters[]
Named the Double Damage, its appearance here resembles that of a radiation symbol, except shaded brown-orange and black. It can be obtained by any Bounty Hunter, and when acquired, the power-up renders said hunter a flowing purple in colour. It is found in arenas like Processor Core, Ice Hive and Compression Chamber.
Metroid Prime Hunters: First Hunt[]
In Metroid Prime Hunters: First Hunt, within Survivor, it is found in the Assault Cradle level on the third floor. It shares the same use as Massive Damage from Echoes's multiplayer mode.
