Draygon boss

Draygon as seen in Super Metroid

Description

Draygon is a major boss from Super Metroid. It is a sort of waterborn crustacean, with a hard outer shell and soft underbelly. Just as well, it seems to be a fully developed Evir, and even has a few hatchlings, which are present in the chamber that it dwells in. It is found in the last accessible room of Maridia. Its defeat allows access to the room which holds the Space Jump ability, and is one of the four bosses necessary to defeat in order to enter Tourian (due to its depiction on the Gold Statue).

Battle Guide

The battle starts with the smaller Evirs swimming rapidly in circular formations until they disappear under the floor of the arena. Then, Draygon rushes at startling speed towards Samus and the battle commences. Draygon can be easily killed by letting it grab you, and then firing the Grapple Beam into one of the broken wall-mounted turrets (they are intact when you first enter the room), thus channeling electricity through Samus's Power Suit into Draygon, electrocuting it. However, you will also take damage from the electricity, so this strategy is not suggested if you are low on health. After its defeat it will sink to the bottom of the floor and the smaller Evirs will come to take Draygon along with them under the floor to an unknown destination.
