Emmy Defeated[1] is a music theme from Metroid Dread. It was composed by Soshi Abe, Sayako Doi, or both.
Description[]
Emmy Defeated plays in the larger of Artaria's two E.M.M.I. Zones after Samus Aran destroys its resident E.M.M.I.-02SM; as seen by sequence breaking, it continues to play when Artaria is frozen over by Experiment No. Z-57. Despite its title, Emmy Defeated does not play in any of the other six E.M.M.I. Zones on ZDR, which use different music for this situation.
Emmy Defeated is a relatively simple theme. Played on a keyboard, its melody is nearly identical to the first 20 seconds of Cave 002, the music that plays in most of Artaria outside the E.M.M.I. Zone. Emmy Defeated has a slower pace and features considerably more repetition however, and in the background are a number of synthesized sounds that set it apart from Cave harmonically. Together with a complete lack of percussion, the slow melody and background synths create a desolate atmosphere.
