For the E.M.M.I. Zones, which are a first in the series, we took on the challenge of creating a music presentation for a new fear-based experience, which is a departure from the typical Metroid atmosphere.

Metroid Dread Report Volume 10: To those departing for ZDR

Emmy Patrol (as named internally) is a theme from Metroid Dread. Composed by Soshi Abe, Sayako Doi or both, it plays when Samus Aran enters an E.M.M.I. Zone.

Description[]

Emmy Patrol consists of a foreboding, repeating series of echoing beeping that is reminiscent of the series' title theme, with numerous mechanical and atmospheric sound effects. It plays whenever an E.M.M.I. is in Patrol Mode, until it enters Search Mode, when Fear experience begins to play. When in Pursuit Mode, Emmy Chase plays.

The theme persists in the respective E.M.M.I. Zones when E.M.M.I.-05IM, 06WB and 07PB have been deactivated. Once the E.M.M.I. is destroyed, this theme stops playing in the respective Zone and is replaced by a different theme for the rest of the game. Emmy Patrol does not play in the small area patrolled by E.M.M.I.-01P; instead, the ambient Cave 001 theme plays there when 01P is not onscreen but still active.
