Environmental Sound (Intrigue) (環境音（陰謀）)[1] is a foreboding theme in Metroid Fusion. It plays during two cutscenes.
The first time this theme is heard is when Samus uplinks with "Adam", her Starship's computer in a Navigation Room in Sector 3 (PYR). Adam hypothesizes that the X Parasites set off the Main Boiler in a suicide attempt to destroy Samus and secure the survival of any X on SR388. The theme stops as Adam reveals that it has detected signs of life on the Habitation Deck, and Facing a Huge Reaction begins to play.
The theme plays again for a later cutscene in Sector 1 (SRX), when Samus uplinks with Adam after defeating Neo-Ridley. Adam instructs Samus to leave the Biologic Space Laboratories research station so that the Galactic Federation can capture the X and SA-X for use as bioweapons. Samus, knowing how dangerous the X are, protests the decision. The music continues to play through their argument, and Samus's monologue resolving to destroy the X by any means necessary.
The music stops when, trapped in the Navigation Room by the computer, Samus calls it Adam in frustration, confusing the computer as she had not disclosed her private nickname for it. The music then changes to the Environmental Sound (Disquieting) and Last Instructions themes as the computer remembers that it is Adam, and orders Samus to use the station's propulsion system on the Main Deck.
