Essence transference is the psionic ability referenced by the Alimbic race which allows them to convert their forms into telepathic energy. This is similar to abilities displayed by the Chozo who left Zebes and Tallon IV for a higher plane of existence. The Alimbics transferred their essences in a successful attempt to contain Gorea within the Oubliette, to seal the interstellar beast away for good. This is mentioned in the Lore entry "Alimbic War 10", which can be scanned in the Subterranean room on Arcterra.
