Face the Threat is a 50 second commercial for Metroid Dread, released onto YouTube and other social media on October 1, 2021. This came one week before the worldwide release date of the game.

The commercial can be viewed here. It was uploaded to Nintendo's YouTube channel here, but has since been made private.

Description[]

The commercial features a young woman (portrayed by Ashleigh LaThrop[1]) playing Dread in her apartment during the evening. A coffee mug and partially eaten sandwich is beside her. On her TV, moments from Dread play out including Samus regaining consciousness after she is attacked by a Chozo figure, confronting Corpius, and entering an E.M.M.I. Zone. As she plays, the green E.M.M.I.-03MB (computer generated) climbs into her apartment via the window and sneaks up behind her. She looks to her left, smirks, and Samus' helmet materializes over her head. The E.M.M.I. can be seen reflected off the visor. More gameplay clips play out before the game's case is displayed, along with a Nintendo Switch standard and OLED model, with a clip of Corpius' death playing on the OLED Switch.

A narrator speaks over this commercial, saying:

The best way to escape an impending threat: become the bigger threat. Suit up as Samus to escape a treacherous new planet, and find the power you need to take on her deadliest enemy yet. Do you have what it takes to be the bigger threat? Metroid Dread, rated T for Teen. Only on Nintendo Switch.
