For the E.M.M.I. Zones, which are a first in the series, we took on the challenge of creating a music presentation for a new fear-based experience, which is a departure from the typical Metroid atmosphere.

Metroid Dread Report Volume 10: To those departing for ZDR

Fear experience,[1] also known as Emmy Search,[2] is a music theme from Metroid Dread. It was composed by Soshi Abe and/or Sayako Doi.

Description[]

Fear experience plays in E.M.M.I. Zones whenever an E.M.M.I. enters Search Mode and is actively looking for Samus Aran, serving as an audio cue to let the player know of the E.M.M.I.'s current status.[3] A short excerpt of the track was first revealed in Volume 10 of the Metroid Dread Report.

The song was composed with the goal of musically presenting a new fear-based experience for the Metroid series, hence its title. It features similar instruments and melodies to the main E.M.M.I. Zone theme, particularly the high-pitched beeping melody, but now is made more intense with the addition of percussion, louder distorted mechanical whirring noises, and a quiet underscoring of alarm-like beeping.
