The "Ferenia basin" is a room in Ferenia. It appears in Metroid Dread.

Description[]

This is a very large room within Ferenia's E.M.M.I. Zone, containing a lower chamber with multiple platforms, and an upper shaft. Both of these contain exits from the E.M.M.I. Zone. They are divided in half by a thin tunnel, which is initially blocked at the top by an E.M.M.I. Valve. After E.M.M.I.-06WB is destroyed, the tunnel can be used to get between both halves.

The lower floor, the basin itself, is almost entirely flooded save for a small upper section. When Samus enters the room for the first time, she does so via a door into the pool of water. As she does not yet have her Gravity Suit, the water will constrict her movements, potentially endangering her if E.M.M.I.-06WB is in there with her. She can make use of multiple blue magnetic strips on the ceilings and walls to hide from the robot. A small number of artificial and organic enemies may also present minor hazards to Samus, or alert the E.M.M.I. to her presence.

Above the surface of the water is an exit from the E.M.M.I. Zone that leads towards the boss of Ferenia, Escue. Aside from this, there is a platform above that leads to an overhang with a small gap under which Samus can Slide. Past this is a Charge Beam Door that leads back into "water filtration", where Samus initially entered the basin from, except this door does not lead into the water.

The basin is re-entered through the door into the upper shaft soon after leaving the lower floor. A wall is present in front of the door with a gap the Morph Ball can fit through. There are more blue magnetic strips on the walls and ceilings that Samus can use to hide from the E.M.M.I. if it is inside. At the very top of the shaft are two exits: another path out of the Zone, and a path that delves further into it, toward the Central Unit.
