The "Ferenia west shaft" is a room in Ferenia. It appears in Metroid Dread.
Description[]
It is the westernmost shaft in Ferenia. Its background is open to the exterior environment, with the dome housing Elun visible against the craggy cave rock outside. The shaft has multiple exits and entrances, the highest being a tunnel near the ceiling that connects to an alcove in the "Flooded Sanctuary". At the very top of the shaft is a group of hanging and tangled cables, with one stretching across a ledge and into another tunnel directly underneath, extending all the way into the "air duct".
The next platforms down are connected by scaffolding and rest above a thin floor with two Beam Blocks near the center. A short ramp here extends into the background and around to an unseen walkway lined with elongated barriers, one of which is not level. This floor leads down to an upside down T-shaped wall with two more barriers, another walkway extending into the background, and another portion of floor composed of Beam Blocks. Through these is a small drop with a door into the "Gooshocker freezer", which is at first a Wave Beam Cover.
As Samus continues down the shaft, there are further platforms and ledges, a large, titled disk on a ledge in the background, and a short ramp leading up and to the right, ending in a thin shaft. The west shaft ends with a longer ramp leading downwards, past a large tunnel in the background and near a tunnel exit into the second elevator to Dairon. These ramps are part of a Shinespark puzzle. To pull it off, Samus must run and Slide in from the Dairon elevator room and then Spin Jump so that she may keep speed-running up the large ramp. At the top, Samus must store a Shinespark, quickly jump up to the ledge above, Shinespark right to the smaller slope and continue running up it, then Shinespark up the thin shaft. This will destroy a group of Speed Booster Blocks at the top and allow her to collect an Energy Part.
