Metroidmissile

Missile Ammo is an item in the Metroid series that replenishes the Missile count of Samus' Power Suit. They appear as floating Missiles and can be collected by simply touching them, using the tractor beam, or using the Grappling Beam in Super Metroid. In Metroid: Samus Returns and Metroid Dread, they will automatically gravitate towards Samus if she is close enough to them. Missile Ammo is released from defeated enemies, as well as storage containers in the Metroid Prime series.

The appearance of Missile Ammo and the amount of Missiles restored when collecting them varies per game:

  • Metroid: Depicted as a small rocket that flashes orange and blue, it restores 2 Missiles. Missile Ammo collected from defeated Metroids in Tourian can restore 30 Missiles.
  • Metroid II: Return of Samus: Depicted as a small triangular projectile, it restores 5 Missiles.
  • Super Metroid: Depicted as a larger, pink-tipped projectile, it restores 2 Missiles.
  • Metroid Fusion: Missile Ammo is not present. Instead, Green X restore 2 Missiles, while Red X and Core-X restore 50 Missiles.

Samus scans a small Missile Ammunition in Metroid Prime.

  • Metroid Prime: Three different types of ammo pickups restore different amounts. Small Missile Ammo restores 3, Medium Missile Ammo restores 5, and Large Missile Ammo restores 10. Each has a different shape and its own Logbook entry.
    • In the original North American GameCube version, there is only a 5-Missile pickup, which resembles the later 3-Missile pickup.
  • Metroid: Zero Mission: Resembles that of Super Metroid, but smaller. They restore 2 Missiles.
  • Metroid Prime 2: Echoes: Two different types of ammo pickups exist, each looking like a collection of "spikes". A pickup with one set of "spikes" restores 5 Missiles, while one with two sets restores 10 Missiles.
  • Metroid Prime Hunters: Resembles Prime's incarnation. Small Missiles restore 10, and Large Missiles restore 25.
  • Metroid Prime 3: Corruption: Pickups are small, brownish-yellow rockets that resemble the Echoes Missile Expansion. One type of ammo pickup restores 5 Missiles, another restores 10, and a third restores 25.
  • Metroid: Other M: Missile Ammo is not present. Instead, the Concentration technique, usable at any time, replenishes all Missiles.
  • Metroid: Samus Returns: Ammo pickups are more rounded with a red tip, and restore 5 Missiles.
  • Metroid Dread: Ammo pickups are slimmer with a red tip, and restore 5 Missiles.
    • After Samus explores Elun and witnesses the X Parasites being released from there, Green and Red X replace Missile Ammo in all non-mechanical enemies save Raven Beak, restoring 5 and 50 missiles respectively. Small Green X restore 1 missile.
