The Fing[1] is a species of flying swarming creatures seen in Ghavoran in Metroid Dread.
Description[]
A Fing is a tiny insect-like creature with a green body and a prominent pair of translucent wings. Its underside can expand into a glowing yellow sac, giving it a similar appearance to the Fireflea of Zebes and the Plazmite of Tallon IV. Fings are individually weak but travel in large swarms for their protection. They typically ignore Samus Aran, although the swarm will deal damage if she is in their flight path. As with other swarming creatures on ZDR, Missiles are effective for killing multiple Fings at once, and they are also weak enough to be killed by a standing Melee Counter. They are visibly knocked back when hit by Missiles due to the shock of the impact.[2]
After the X Parasites are released from quarantine in Elun, Fings are infected by tiny X Parasites, but their appearance and behavior are unchanged. They release mini X when killed.
Unlike other enemies, if Samus has assumed her idle animation when near Fings, she will not disengage from her idle stance.[3]
