Flesh-eating bacteria is a disease. The presence of this bacteria was initially revealed in the scan of the Zoomer in Metroid Prime Hunters. This in all-probability is an umbrella term referring to all types of bacteria in the same category that the Geemer species is known to carry. The Zoomer has migrated to many planets through means of stowing away on board visiting star ships, and has consequently spread these strains of bacteria to each of the environments it was newly introduced to; these strains of bacteria decimated the populations of native wildlife of Zebes.
