Samus Aran's flora and fauna databank is a comprehensive database of the various species in the cosmos. It is used to provide her with information when she scans objects with her Scan Visor. However, it does not seem to be a complete repository, as evidenced by its inability to identify several variants of lichen she finds on Tallon IV. It also cannot identify a unique type of fungi native to Phaaze, because that planet has never been explored by the Chozo or Galactic Federation before Samus' arrival.
The databank is named in Metroid Prime, in the previously mentioned scans of lichen throughout the Tallon Overworld.
