"Special thanks 2 Genji Kubota & all debug staff."
Genji Kubota is a Japanese video game programmer at Nintendo, credited under special thanks in Super Metroid. His name is hidden near the beginning of the Super Metroid ROM in a message, suggesting he served as a debugger for the game. It is unknown if it is possible to display the message in-game without hacking.
Kubota's Mario Paint credit is not included in a prototype of the game purchased by Nintendo Player in 2012.
As Kubota has not been credited in a game since the early 2000s, it is likely that he has since retired from Nintendo.
