Glimpse of Dread[1] (【メトロイド ドレッド】恐怖の片鱗 その1) is a small teaser for Metroid Dread. It was first uploaded on August 6 as part of Volume 4 of the Metroid Dread Report. On the Japanese version, it is an embedded, unlisted YouTube video, while on the English version it is embedded directly onto the website. The Russian, German and Dutch versions by contrast are on their respective official YouTube channels.
The teaser begins with the Gunship landing in Hanubia, interspliced with Samus Aran descending down an elevator, with a brief flash of her eyes through her visor. A mechanical voice, belonging to Adam, plays during this part. Samus is wearing the Varia Suit version of her Power Suit, making its debut in this trailer.
The camera focuses on an enormous Chozo statue seen in "Corpius' room", before transitioning to a cutscene in which Samus finds a Ferenia mural with hieroglyphs depicting Raven Beak and several Chozo Soldiers. Quiet Robe, who was seen briefly in the Announcement Trailer, is shown from the front from the first time, standing before an E.M.M.I. Zone Door and politely bowing.
Flashbacks of the creation of the Metroids and the downfall of the Chozo on SR388 (previously depicted in the Chozo Memories of Metroid: Samus Returns) play on screen, before a series of fast images. These images depict flashbacks to Metroid Fusion, such as a glimpse of a Metroid, Samus killing the Hornoad, the X Parasite that infected her appearing, Samus during and after her surgery, and the SA-X. Samus's eye widens in shock, and her left arm glows purple as it twitches. The teaser ends by shows the title for the game.
Throughout the teaser, Metroid Dread's eerie, mechanized remix of the Metroid title theme is playing in the background.
