The "glyph shaft" is a room in Ferenia. It appears in Metroid Dread.
Description[]
The "glyph shaft" is a medium-length shaft near the left entrance to Ferenia. It has a domed ceiling and artwork on the background wall that depicts a Chozo warrior holding something in the center, with a sun behind him. To either side of this are two etchings of three Chozo wearing loincloths and appearing to reach toward the center Chozo. Whether or not this represents Raven Beak is unknown. Directly underneath this is a ledge with a Storm Missile Box in front of a Missile Cover. On the first visit, this cannot be removed. Samus can shoot Beam Blocks in the floor to proceed further downwards, then enter a small tunnel, at the end of which is another set of Beam Blocks.
Destroying these drops Samus to the lowest floor, where three shields are displayed with two spears each in an X shape, and the wall is supported by two buttresses. Once Samus has the Storm Missiles, she can remove the box and Missile Cover and recover her Space Jump in the preceding room. The shaft is inhabited by Sabotoru, a Fulmite and a Gooshocker, the latter of which materializes into the room via a green X Parasite when Samus drops to the lower floor. The presence of the Sabotoru is the cause for the highest and lowest doors being permanently covered in a slick substance, while the central door remains unaffected.
