A Gold Space Pirate[1] is an X Parasite mimicking a Zebesian Space Pirate in Metroid Fusion.
Description[]
Gold Space Pirates appear in only a few rooms of the Tourian-like area of Sector 1 (SRX) on the Biologic Space Laboratories research station, most notably before Neo-Ridley's room. They only come into being when two free-floating X Parasites (often resulting from the deaths of other creatures, such as Genesis) are merged.
By manipulating its host's DNA, the X Parasites give this Zebesian a gold-colored exoskeleton that is incredibly resilient, although its back is left vulnerable. Gold Space Pirates are very strong, and can only be destroyed from behind by most weaponry. However, the Screw Attack is sufficient to quickly dispatch them.
Trivia[]
- Gold Space Pirates are comparable to the elite Gray Space Pirates and Silver Space Pirates encountered by Samus during her previous missions to Zebes.
- A glitch can be exploited while fighting Gold Space Pirates. Normally, Samus would need to attack a Gold Space Pirate's back, but the game only checks to see if she and the Pirate are facing the same direction. As such, Samus can simply shoot, then turn around immediately after shooting, which will still damage the Pirate.
