The Gooplot[1] (グープロット )[2] is a species found on ZDR in Metroid Dread.
Description[]
The Gooplot is a slimy creature first found in Dairon, although they can also be found in Burenia. These enemies attach their sticky purple bodies to walls; when Samus Aran approaches, they expose their red eyeball before launching themselves towards her. This is their only attack and it is susceptible to a Melee Counter. Its slimy exterior gradually diminishes with each jump, revealing a bright blue body underneath that is most noticeable in rooms of Dairon without power. If Samus dodges a Gooplot's launch attacks five times, it will die on impact.[3][4] Gooplots will bounce off of fired Missiles that collide with them during their launch attack; repeating the process causes them to revert to X upon hitting the floor.[5]
Several Gooplots can be seen suspended within tubes in the background of Dairon. Their eyes watch Samus as she passes.[6] Another Gooplot is kept in stasis by the Mawkin in Hanubia's "Bioweapon Storage".
After the X Parasite outbreak, all Gooplots become infected by the X, which also mimic their form in Hanubia during the final countdown. While the ordinary Gooplot's appearance and behavior remains unchanged, the X combine their DNA with multiple other creatures to create enhanced hybrids. This includes the Yamplot-X, which combines the Yampa's body with the Gooplot's slimy form and increased maneuverability, and the Gooshocker, which gives Gooplots the electric powers of Ground Shockers.
