Hanubia (ハヌビア ) is an area on the surface of ZDR. It is the penultimate area in Metroid Dread.
Description[]
Hanubia is a dark, rainy rock steppe where Samus Aran's Gunship first lands. It also features large military facilities constructed by the Mawkin Chozo tribe, where the Chozo Soldiers docked their starships and once held proud rallies. This facility contains the elevator that Samus initially used to travel down to Artaria. It also connects to Ghavoran via Shuttle and Ferenia via Elevator.
In one facility, Hanubia contains specimens of various ZDR species in stasis, presumably used for unknown purposes by the Mawkin. One Takumaku breaks free of its damaged stasis capsule, although the rest of the specimens remain unperturbed.
Hanubia contains one E.M.M.I. Zone, patrolled by E.M.M.I.-07PB. The Power Bomb is acquired after Samus destroys the E.M.M.I. and its Central Unit using her newly-awakened Metroid powers. Similar to the glass tubes in Maridia and Chozodia, Samus can use the Power Bomb to destroy two damaged walkways in the area.
At various points while exploring Hanubia, Samus is watched by a Chozo Soldier and an Elite Chozo Soldier in the background. Both X-infected Chozo eventually confront Samus in combat, acting as the area's mini-bosses.
During Samus's first visit to Hanubia, ADAM tells her to wait while he locates Raven Beak's position, giving her time to return to Ferenia and defeat E.M.M.I.-06WB if she has not done so already. ADAM later informs her about Itorash, located in the sky above Hanubia and accessible via Transport Capsule. Following the battle aboard the flying fortress, Itorash is drained of power and crash-lands in Hanubia; the area's map considerably opens up, with many new rooms becoming accessible as a result of the destruction caused by Itorash. Having acquired the Metroid Suit and Hyper Beam, Samus eviscerates Raven Beak X and flees Hanubia as ZDR begins to self-destruct, while many other X Parasites fruitlessly attempt to stop her from escaping. She melts the Hyper Beam Door and makes it back to her Gunship, where the X-reanimated Quiet Robe sacrifices itself to rebalance her Metroid DNA so that she can pilot her ship and escape.

Official data[]
Adam Briefing[]
"This area, Hanubia, is on the planet's surface. You've finally made it, Samus."
Music[]
The main theme of Hanubia is internally titled Shipyard 001. After Samus defeats E.M.M.I.-07PB and the red Chozo Soldier, Emmy Defeated Shipyard plays in the E.M.M.I. Zone. An original theme is used for the countdown.
Trivia[]
- Since Samus defeats E.M.M.I.-07PB by draining its energy, Hanubia is the only area with an E.M.M.I. where Samus does not directly battle a Central Unit or acquire the Omega Cannon.
- Hanubia is the only area on ZDR without a dedicated Save Station. This leaves the local Network Station as the only place where Samus can save.
- Two Mawkin starships are docked in Hanubia prior to the final battle against Raven Beak, but have disappeared after Raven Beak X's demise. It is unknown if they were destroyed during ZDR's destruction, or if this detail ominously implies that the ships were used by X hosts to escape.
