- Not to be confused with Head Shot.
A Headshot is a technique that can be performed on Bounty Hunters and Guardians in Metroid Prime Hunters. As in other video games, Headshots deal additional damage. Headshots are difficult to pull off, so it may be better for the competing Bounty Hunters, especially in the Multiplayer Mode, to simply shoot at the entire body of their opponents rather than just the head. When a headshot is pulled off, the word "HEADSHOT!" will appear onscreen, whether the move was fatal to the victim or not. Weavel is the only Bounty Hunter who does not flinch when shot in the head.
Headshots cannot be inflicted on Alt-Forms, even ones with visible heads such as the Halfturret and Triskelion. They can be performed in other Metroid series games as well on certain creatures, but require precise aim and are often impractical with little or no reward for successful headshots. In Metroid: Other M, when Samus uses the Overblast on a Griptian, she dispatches it with a headshot. Performing a headshot on enemies in Metroid Prime: Federation Force rewards +50 points for "Sniped". A headshot achieved with the Charge Shot will reward +150 points for "Pulverized".
