Heavy Phazon Canisters are a common sight on the Pirate Homeworld, and are used to hold large quantities of Phazon. They are highly volatile and are usually seen being moved by Pirate Cargo Drones via a Grapple Beam-like device. They usually drop multiple Phazon Units when destroyed.
In Metroid Prime 2: Echoes, similar canisters were present in various locations, such as both the Agon Wastes and its dark counterpart, Torvus Bog and Sanctuary Fortress. Destroying them in both games can be used as an advantage to Samus, as she can fire at them when Space Pirates are nearby, causing the enemies to be incinerated (or damaged heavily in some cases concerning Hard Mode). Standing next to a Phazon Canister when destroying it causes major burn damage to Samus, lighting her on fire for a brief period of time. This can be seen when she enters or disengages Morph Ball mode.
