The Hecathon[1] is a species of large, flying creatures in Metroid Dread.
Description[]
Hecathons have lived on ZDR since ancient times and are found in Ghavoran around that area's lush vegetation. Green in color, Hecathons float in the air and are more likely to attack when provoked. They are carnivorous, and break down its prey into more digestible particles by emitting a purple light from its underbelly, which decomposes anything caught in it.[1] Samus can most effectively kill them with Super Missiles. Some Hecathons can be seen flying placidly through the background of certain rooms; some apparently fly past the upper sections of the Ghavoran E.M.M.I. Zone, indicating that the E.M.M.I. Zones are relatively confined even on the Z axis.
After the X Parasites are released from Elun, all Hecathons are infected by the X and become more aggressive as a result. In addition to their natural habitat in Ghavoran, an X-infected Hecathon can be found in the Artaria E.M.M.I. Zone, sharing a large domed room with a Goliath.
The Omnithon is an underwater variation of Hecathons found in Burenia.
