Himellas[1] (ヒムラ himura), are insects featured in Metroid: Other M. They are found in frozen rooms in Sector 2 / Cryosphere. The Himellas' wings have snowflake-like structures, and they have blue bodies with red eyes. They spawn from Fly Pods that resemble white compounds, and are essentially identical to Reos found in Sector 1 / Biosphere and Mellas found in Sector 3 / Pyrosphere, but unlike the Reos and flame-spitting Mellas, Himellas are capable of firing small ice shards. Nintendo Official Guidebook for Metroid Other M reveals that all three are part of the same species.

"Rios are a series of bug-type flying creatures. In Sector 1 is the Rio, Sector 2 is the ice-attack wielding Himella, and Sector 3 is the fire-attack wielding Mella, making 3 different types of Rio."
Trivia
- While not present in the game, Mellows are possibly another species related to Himellas and Mellas, given their similarities in name and body structures (which feature small to no visible limbs).
