Hopper Mounds are round hives spawning Fire Hoppers on Bion in Metroid Prime: Federation Force. They can be destroyed and are not particularly robust like the Hopper Nests that breed other variants of the Hopper species. They are present at the end of M02: Hardball, outside of the cargo ship. They also appear in M09: Blender, spawning Fire Hoppers to distract the Federation Force from bringing the cart(s) to extraction. Unlike most Hopper Nests, they are attached to the ground, as opposed to a high wall or ceiling (in both of the aforementioned missions, they are found in settings open to the sky).
