- This article is about the theme from Metroid Prime 2: Echoes. For the theme from Metroid Prime Hunters, see Hunters (credits theme).
Hunters,[1] also known as Multiplayer,[2] is the default theme of the Metroid Prime 2: Echoes Multiplayer mode.
Description[]
Hunters is a remix of the Upper Brinstar theme in Super Metroid, primarily using the energetic synth instruments and choirs of the Metroid Prime Trilogy soundtrack. It is extended from the original track, repeating the opening portion of the song at the beginning and then adding a new original section at the end of the song.
A faster-paced version plays when there is only one minute left in a match, with additional percussion and siren-like instruments to give it greater urgency. This abridged version omits the extended compositions of the main version, as well as the last portion of the original Upper Brinstar track.
An abridged remix is featured in Metroid Prime Pinball for the Clone, Gunship and Phazon Multiball modes, as well as the Magmoor Caverns table. This version only consists of the opening of the track.
The theme reappears in the latest two games of the Super Smash Bros. series. Its title is written slightly different with each installment: Multiplayer (Metroid Prime 2) in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Multiplayer (Metroid Prime 2: Echoes) in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, and Multiplayer - Metroid Prime 2: Echoes in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
In Brawl, it is unlocked by playing 10 Brawls on the Frigate Orpheon. It can play on the Frigate Orpheon stage in Brawl, like most other Prime series songs. It is also heard in parts of The Research Facility (Part I) and The Subspace Bomb Factory (Part I) in Adventure Mode: The Subspace Emissary, even if the song has not been unlocked yet. In Wii U, the song plays on Pyrosphere, where it is available by default. In Ultimate, it can now be played on any stage based on the Metroid series. When Dark Samus completes Classic Mode, this is the theme that plays during the credits.
The theme from Echoes and Brawl can be heard here: [1], the faster-paced theme here: [2] and the theme from Pinball here: [3].
Trivia[]
- In the August 8, 2018 Nintendo Direct, the song's title was written the same way in the Ultimate Sound Test as it was in Wii U. This was changed before the release of Ultimate.
