! | This is a rare creature/object. It may only be scanned in one or few encounters. |
Ice Shriekbats are similar to ordinary Shriekbats, but they live in the Phendrana region on Tallon IV. Ice Shriekbats have a thick shell of icy armor, but are otherwise identical to their brethren. They attack in the same manner as regular Shriekbats: they dive-bomb anything that enters their territory and explode on impact, releasing high amounts of thermal energy. They are only found on the dark ceilings in the buildings in Ice Ruins West (though they disappear permanently once Samus acquires the Thermal Visor in the North American versions of Metroid Prime).[1]
The Ice Shriekbats in the Metroid Prime beta were named Hard Shelled Metaree.
